A Nursery for Baby #2

With 2.5 weeks to go we finally managed to get Baby A’s nursery all done!  I am really happy with how it turned out and actually like it better than Claire’s nursery!  We are re-using all the furniture that was in Claire’s room but my parents bought us new bedding as this baby may be a boy!!

The view from the door:

The bookshelves are still rather empty but I know it won’t take long to accumulate things to put on them.  I will probably put a couple pictures up after the baby comes and maybe a few other decorations.  Other than that I know there will be more toys and things for me to stash there soon!

I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our bedding.  We stuck with the zoo animal theme that we had used in Claire’s room so we could reuse the above pictures.  If you will remember, this is also the crib that Drew and all his siblings used:

Drew made the white shelf in the closet for odds and ends.  I also bought a few items of gender neutral clothing so we should be set for a bit regardless of what this baby turns out to be!  If it is a girl we are hoping to reuse a lot of the clothes we had for Claire.  The only problem is the seasons will be off as Claire was an early spring baby and this will be a mid-summer baby.  So we will see how much we are able to use!  If it is a boy, I will be excited to go buy some new clothes for him 🙂

4th of July

Our 4th this year was very low key.  We usually go up to Georgetown and take part in the parade, BBQ, games, and fireworks.  It is always such a blast.  This year, my doctor did not want me to be that far from the hospital so we had to stick around Denver.  We had a nice time hanging out together but it was kind of a let down as far as how fun our 4ths usually are!

We tried to go to this “festival” in the Highlands but it was a total bust so we went out to lunch instead.  We tried a new place called Jezebel’s.  We all really liked our food but thought they were over priced!

After Claire’s nap we made a quick trip to the park.  This was the highlight of her day for sure.  There was this 6 year old girl there that Claire followed all around.  It was so entertaining to watch.  When the older girl had to go home Claire gave her a big hug!  Such a sweetie!!

After dinner, Claire played with some sparklers “Leenie” bought for her.  We knew fireworks would be WAY to late for her and this probably worked out best as she was pretty unsure of the sparklers and didn’t like the “booms” going off in our neighborhood as other people set off their stashes.

Impromptu Choir Concert

Do you remember way back before Claire was born I sang in a choir?  Well I took the opportunity to sing again with them for a summer concert.  I really can’t believe it had been over two years since the last time I sang with Impromptu!  I am so glad I did as I had a wonderful time singing and seeing familiar faces.  I loved all of our music but just picked out a few of the songs we sang to upload on here.  I mainly chose them because Drew said he really enjoyed these particular pieces, but they really were ALL fun!  I was supposed to sing again in the 4th of July Parade in Georgetown but my doctor was not comfortable with me venturing up to the mountains so close to term.  Oh well, there is always next year!!

We have a few too many strollers!!  We posted two of them on Craig’s List hoping we can sell what we don’t need:

I often post about how fast Claire is growing up (which is very true) so it makes these types of moments extra special.  The moments where I can be reminded that she is still part baby.  Here she fell asleep halfway through lunch:

This video started out with an attempt to get Claire to say her ABCs and ended up with a little gymnastics show:

Reflections from this Pregnancy (36 Weeks)

As this pregnancy draws to a close (currently 36 weeks) I realize that I haven’t blogged near as much about it as I did when I was pregnant with Claire.  This time around I feel like I had a totally different pregnancy.  In a lot of ways it was better but having Claire to run after made it difficult.

I feel I was probably just as sick at the beginning of this pregnancy as the last; however, I didn’t have the food aversions I had with Claire.  This time around I felt lousy all the time but as long as I ate something I would feel a little better.

I had some bleeding at the beginning of this pregnancy which put me on “rest” for a few days but other than that things have been pretty smooth sailing.  I was so nervous about ending up on bed rest this time around it is a huge relief that I never had too.

The hardest parts of this pregnancy have been just general body aches and pains (magnified by a 2 year old that still wants to be held and carried) and anxiety.  I have had terrible anxiety this whole pregnancy and am really looking forward to it being over and my hormones going back to normal!  Sleeping has been much harder this time around.  I know I was uncomfortable with Claire but I never remember not being able to get a decent night sleep.  This time around I am up every hour either going to the bathroom or having to change to a different position.  The sleep deprivation has really been getting to me the past couple weeks.  I literally feel like a walking zombie some days.

I won’t be surprised if this baby, like Claire, is born with a full head of hair as my indigestion has been TERRIBLE.  Tonight I was starving but barely ate anything for dinner because I knew that if I ate, I would regret it!

I feel like this pregnancy has flown by.  There were definitely times that it drug, don’t get me wrong, but for the most part it has gone so fast.  I really can’t believe I have less than three weeks to go before my scheduled c-section!

I have been much more relaxed this time in regards to food and drink.  I started allowing myself a couple coffees a week during this last trimester because I feel like if I am in “walking zombie” mode I am putting Claire in danger.  She is so adventurous and daring she requires a full time, attentive watcher!  And she is NON STOP.  I still have been my normal nutso self about medication though, refusing to take even tylenol or tums!

Now I feel like the real waiting game begins.  On Monday I will be full term (37 weeks) so if I go into labor they won’t try to stop it.  Our hospital bags are 90% packed and ready to go if baby decides to come early like big sister did.  I am on the fence on if I want to go early or not.  A big part of me is like, heck ya, SO over being pregnant.  But another part of me doesn’t know if we are ready to have a newborn again.  Plus, my doctor is now out of town until the day before my c-section so if I go early I won’t have him.  I guess we will just continue to take it a day at a time because, in the end, this really isn’t in my control!

Noah’s 2nd Birthday

Claire had a blast this year at Noah’s second birthday.  It was at a jump house and you will remember from a few posts back how much she loves the jumpy castles these days!!!  She did not want to leave; in fact, a week later, she is still talking about “nona’s birfday party.”  She will bring it up and say “go gen (go again)”  Drew didn’t get to go so I didn’t have my photographer with me.  The pictures I got aren’t the best quality but believe me, she had a blast.  On a side note, Drew had a really fun day as well.  Him and his brother and sister attended the Epic Beer Festival downtown.

Georgetown Loop Railroad

We had so much fun riding the Georgetown Loop Railroad with some of our friends last weekend.  I highly recommend this beautiful train ride wether you have kids or not!!  This is the third time Drew and I have rode it and we love it every time we get to go 🙂

We drove up early that morning and my dad helped Drew cut some wood for a shelf he is building for Baby #2’s room.  I had been up all night having contractions so I sat down and “supervised.”  I had to snap a quick picture because the view was so pretty!!

IMG_0641

Then it was “all aboard” and off we went:

The train makes one stop in Silver Plume so we got off and took the opportunity to snap some pictures:

Then it was back on the train for the ride home.  Claire had so much fun saying “all aboard” and “choo choo” (of course the choo choo had to have the hand motions with it:

After the train ride my parents had us all over for a cook out.  The food was delicious and the kiddos had so much fun running around in the back area.  The wagon was the biggest hit:

All of us had kids that passed out on the way down the mountain.  They just wore themselves out with all the excitement:

It was such a fun day and I can’t wait to do it again.  Claire really enjoys trains these days!!

Splash Park

We recently went to a new splash park that opened by our house.  Claire LOVED it and it was only $1 per person to get in!!!  Can you believe there are still activities that cheap around?!

Eat Like Me

This post is going to look very different than my usual “Eat Like Me” posts.  But this pregnant mama has wanted sugar, sugar, and more sugar these past few weeks.  When I made my grocery list two weeks ago I had three dessert recipes on there before I realized I needed to stop myself and start thinking about what was actually going to be for dinner!!

DSC_4367

What is it?  A really easy dinner idea for you!!  Crock Pot Salsa Verde Chicken spread over tostadas.

I spread refried beans, the shredded chicken and cheddar on top of them and broiled them in the oven for 5-10 minutes.  Then added shredded lettuce, tomato, avocado, and lime juice.  YUMMY
