Father’s Day

Well I can’t speak for Drew but I think our Father’s Day Weekend was pretty fun!  It turned out different than we had planned but it was still a great weekend.  We had planned to go camping at Rifle Gap State Park for Saturday night.  My parents were going to come too and the boys were going to go fly fish and the girls were going to swim in the lake.  BUT my doctor was very uncomfortable with me going that far away (3 hours) at almost 34 weeks pregnant.  The problem is that these little mountain towns have hospitals but they mainly specialize in ERs not maternity and the closest hospital with a NICU was all the way back in Denver.  So after much thought, we decided to cancel our camping trip and stay here.

Drew got his gift a week early so we kind of celebrated Drew for two weekends.  Claire got Drew a stand up tool box!  Drew was so excited he immediately started setting it up.  Soon all his tools will be in one place instead of strewn all over the garage!

Actual Father’s Day weekend started out with a trip to gymnastics:

Then we went to the Highlands Street Fair.  It was so much fun and the weather was PERFECT.  We walked around and ate lunch at one of the local vendors.  Then we wandered over to the children’s section were they had some bouncy castles.  Drew bought Claire a ticket to go in and I told Drew that I thought it was going to be a big waste of money because she, of course, was going to be too scared.  Not only was she not scared, she had a blast!!  I got all nostalgic boo-hooing how she wasn’t a baby anymore and such a big kid!

On the way back to the car we passed a garage sale where the owner was giving away stuffed animals.  Claire picked out a little red and and white dog (go figure – kid is still obsessed with dogs) that has been named “Sparky.”

We came home so little girl (okay, okay and mom) could nap.  Drew and my Dad worked on some house projects.  When everyone was up again we got ready for dinner and headed to Boulder to eat at The Med.

Getting Ready (someone has to do everything mom does, especially make up):

At dinner:

The Med is an awesome restaurant that if you hit it during happy hour their is a huge tapas menu.  They also have a gorgeous patio with flowers everywhere and a fountain.  After dinner we took a quick stroll down Pearl Street and headed home.

The loves of my life!!!

Sunday morning the guys got up early and went to El Dorado Canyon in Boulder to fly fish!  I was so happy that they were still able to get this in even though our camping trip got canceled.  They didn’t have any bites as the stream was moving to fast but they said the area was beautiful and they still had a great time:

While the boys were fishing, the girls went to see fish – at the Aquarium!  We had a lot of fun looking through all the exhibits and then eating lunch at the aquarium restaurant:

We made it home a little before the boys and it was starting to rain so we sat out on the deck and watched the rain while we waited for the boys to return.  Someone was very happy to see their dad:
