A Shower for Abbott

Over MLK weekend this year I traveled back to Texas, sans Claire and Drew, to help host a baby shower for my dear friend Laura.  It was so much fun to be a part of and I think the shower turned out just perfect!  We planned on having the shower at one of the hostesses homes but after a last minute emergency we had to move it to Sisu Restaurant in Uptown, Dallas.  The location was great, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.  It was a beautiful day!

The location had an outdoor patio that was covered for the winter.  It was really pretty and the water fountains made it so peaceful.  Bottomless bloody marys and mimosa’s were served.  (They sure did look tasty!)

The hostesses:

While we waited for our food to come out we played a couple games.  Everyone got to order something off their brunch menu.  Food was delic!

The first was a onsie decorating game.  Everyone thought of such fun and creative onsies.  I am sure Laura will get plenty of giggles as she pulls them out for Abbott to wear!

Next was a mad-libs type story where Laura had to fill in the blanks with D’s responses.  In typical D fashion, his responses were hilarious.  Some of my personal favorites were:

How to stay on your mom’s good side? – Son, I havent figured that one out yet
Pearls of wisdom for his son: Xray glasses don’t work and if someone tells you that you won’t get in trouble if you tell the truth, KEEP LYING!

Next we moved on to the gift opening:

Laura was such a sweet honoree and enjoyed opening all her present.  We had about 20ish people show up.  Here are a few pics of the partygoers:

These two have been friends just as long as Laura and I have!  My mom used to have to call “family meetings” with Sylvia to discuss whatever mischief us kids found ourselves in.  I guess we didn’t age them too much because they are both so beautiful!

Can’t believe I have known this lady for something like 18 years!!  Time flies!

I just thought this blooper photo was cute!

Soon to be grandma’s!

I was missing my Claire Bear so I sent her a picture of mommy to tell her hi!  Drew said he showed it to her and she pointed at it and said “mama”

It was a whirlwind of a trip (I flew in on a Friday afternoon and out Sunday early afternoon) but it was nice to have a quick get away.  I was excited to see my family again too though!  Stay tuned to see what Daddy and Claire were up to while I was away!
