A Trip to the Mountains

The weekend after my birthday we drove to Florissant, Co (2.5 hours south and west) to visit a good family friend.  She happens to be our friend who adopted Wendy girl!  It was the first time we had seen Wendy and it was so much fun.  She remembered us but also knew where her home was.  Our friend recently moved from Santa Fe and so she is much closer now.  I imagine we will be seeing a lot more of her and Wendy.  Her house is so beautiful.  One side is all windows with breathtaking mountain views.  I was so upset we forgot our camera!  We only got a few pictures on the phone 🙁

We took a picturesque walk around and ended up at a lake where the dogs took a dip.  It was a little chilly to begin with and then it unexpectedly started raining.  We were all huddled up under a tree trying to stay warm and dry.  It let up after about 15 minutes and he took a short cut right up the mountain side through the woods (no path) to get home before it started again because Claire was too cold!

 Libby even swam:

Oh yeah, did I mention there were six dogs there?!?!  Three of Gillies, one she was babysitting, Libby, and my parents dog.  Claire was in heaven!  There were dogs everywhere she turned!

Libby got confused for a few minutes and was pretending she was a dog instead of a pampered human.  The confusion didn’t last long 🙂

It was so beautiful – it was like a little bit of heaven right here on earth!
